The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-6 to open a four-game series at PNC Park last night.
Pirates pitching allowed nine walks to the Mets. Starting pitcher Nick Kingham was ineffective, allowing six earned runs over just three innings. He walked four. Reliever Tyler Glasnow walked another four. David Freese and Josh Harrison each hit their sixth home runs of the year. Outfielder Jordan Luplow had two hits.
Catcher Francisco Cervelli returned from the disabled list and started last night. Both Starling Marte and Corey Dickerson sat the game out.
The Bucs host the Mets tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Ivan Nova will start for the Pirates.

The New York Yankees acquired former Pirate J.A. Happ from Toronto for infielder Brandon Drury and a minor league outfielder. Happ was 10-6, with a 4.18 ERA this season. The Yankees are 5-1/2 games behind the Boston Red Sox in the A.L. East.
