The Pittsburgh Pirates have hired Matt Hague as their new hitting coach. He replaces Andy Haines, who was fired after three seasons with the Bucs. The 39-year old Hague served as the Toronto Blue Jays assistant hitting coach last season.
Hague was drafted by the Pirates in the ninth round of the 2008 draft and spent most of his career in the minor leagues, before playing in Japan. Hague made his debut with the Pirates in 2012 after an impressive spring training, but went on to bat only .223 with no home runs appearing in 33 games with the Bucs
