The Pittsburgh Pirates closed their season with a 6-5 victory in 10-innings over the Cincinnati Reds. Starling Marte hit his 20th home run of the season, allowing him to become just the third Pirate all-time to hit 20 home runs and steal at least 30 bases. Marte joins Barry Bonds and Andy Van Slyke as the only Pirates to achieve that mark. Josh Bell hit his 12th home run of the year. Michael Feliz won the game with a perfect ninth inning in which he struck out the side. Felipe Vazquez pitched a perfect 10th to close the season with his 37th save.
The Bucs ended the year with an 82-79 overall record. They finished 12-1/2 behind the first-place Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers and were 8-1/2 behind the final Wild Card spot.
There will be two extra games today in Major League Baseball to determine division winners. The Chicago Cubs will host the Milwaukee Brewers in a one-game playoff to determine the National League Central after both teams ended the regulard season 95-67. Game time is 1:05pm at Wrigley Field.
Colorado will visit the Los Angeles Dodgers today to decide the National League West. Game time is 4:09pm. Both teams are 91-71.
The loser of the Brewers-Cubs game will host the National League Wild Card game Tuesday.
