The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 last night. Brewers rookie Taylor Jungmann held the Pirates to three hits over seven innings in his major league debut. The Pirates only run came from Starling Marte’s 12th home run of the season in the second inning. The Bucs had only four hits in the game, although three of the four went for extra bases. Andrew McCutchen returned after missing a game with his sore knee and had a double. Pedro Alvarez also doubled. Pirate starter Francisco Liriano allowed three runs on five hits over eight innings. He walked one and struck out six, but took the loss. His record fell to 3-5.
The Pirates will try to avoid a Milwaukee sweep tonight at PNC Park. Game time is 7:05pm with Charlie Morton seeking to start his season 4-0. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm.
San Francisco Giants rookie pitcher Chris Heston pitched a no-hitter last night in a 5-0 victory over the New York Mets. It was the first no-hitter of the major league baseball season, and fourth in as many seasons for the Giants.
