The Milwaukee Brewers held off the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 last night at PNC Park. All of the runs from both teams came in the third inning. Pirates pitchers Josh Fleming and Luis Ortiz aided the Brewers cause with two walks, two hit batters and an error by first baseman Rowdy Tellez.
The Pirates runs came on a Bryan Reynolds two-run home run in the bottom of the third.
The Pirates put runners at first and third with two outs in the ninth inning thanks to a Brewers error, but pinch-hitter Andrew McCutchen struck out to end the game.
The two teams complete their series this afternoon at 12:35pm. WISR joins the pre-game following the Noon News.
The Pirates head to San Francisco for the weekend after the game.
After a 9-3 start, the Pirates have gone 4-9. With last night’s loss, the Bucs are now three games behind first-place Milwaukee and in fourth place in the National League Central.
