The Oakland Athletics defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-1 last night in the opening game of their three-game series. The Pirates managed a season-low two hits in the game. Starting pitcher Bailey Falter allowed all five earned runs over his five innings of work. He had allowed just four earned runs over his previous four starts.
The Bucs have now lost eight of their last 11 games and have fallen two games under .500. They play the A’s again tonight at 9:40pm. WISR pre-game begins at 9:15pm. Mitch Keller will start for the Pirates.
Since the Pirates scored nine runs against Philadelphia back on April 14th-they have scored two runs or fewer in 10 of 14 games.
