The Pittsburgh Pirates avoided a series sweep with a 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Five relievers followed starter Jared Jones, allowing one run to earn the victory. Jones went four innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits. Isaiah Kiner-Falefa led the Bucs with three hits.
The Royals defeated the Bucs 5-1 Saturday and 8-3 Friday night.
The Pirates are in St. Louis to begin a four-game series with the Cardinals tonight. First pitch is 7:45pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:20pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Bucs.
