The Pirates have added four top prospects to their 40-man roster. The moves are needed by next Tuesday to protect players from the Rule 5 Draft in December. Receiving spots on the roster are pitchers Mitch Keller and J.T. Brubaker, shortstop Cole Tucker and outfielder Jason Martin. The Pirates traded pitcher Tanner Anderson to Oakland for a player to be named. Anderson made 10 appearances for the Pirates.
Third baseman Adrian Beltre has retired after 21 seasons in the major leagues. The 39-year old was a four-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner. He played for the Texas Rangers for the past seven seasons. He played just shy of 3,000 games and had 477 home runs and more than 1,700 RBI’s.
