The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-0 last night. Goaltender Matt Murray returned from a concussion suffered 10-days ago and stopped all 38 shots on goal. Evgeni Malkin scored twice. Kris Letang added his fourth goal of the season. It was Murray’s seventh career shutout, and came against the NHL’s highest scoring team thus far this season.
The Pens improved to 3-1-2 overall and their eight points in six games now puts them one point out of first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Pens visit Edmonton next Tuesday.
