The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-0 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Sidney Crosby scored his 31st goal of the season. Erik Karlsson scored the 200th goal of his career. Kevin Hayes scored twice in the third period.
Tristan Jarry stopped all 26 shots from Chicago for the second shutout over his last four games and since being pulled in back-to-back games. Despite those two bad games, Jarry is 7-3-2 since his recall from the minor leagues.
Rookie forward Rutger McGroarty was injured blocking a shot in the second period. The Penguins were hoping to send him back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the Baby Penguins playoff run.
The Pens visit New Jersey Friday night.
