The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Face-off is 7pm. WISR pre-game is 6:30pm. The Penguins have won 12 of their past 13 games against the Lightning at PPG Paints Arena.
The Penguins traded winger Carl Hagelin to Los Angeles Wednesday for Tanner Pearson. Hagelin had a goal and two assists to begin the season. Pearson is looking for his first goal in 17 games. He had a career-high 24 goals as recently as the 2016-17 season. The 30-year old Hagelin will be a free-agent at the end of the season, while Pearson is four years younger and is signed through 2021.
The Penguins also gave general manager Jim Rutherford a new three-year contract extension.
Captain Sidney Crosby did not practice Wednesday with an upper-body injury suffered in the game with New Jersey Tuesday. The Penguins have recalled winger Derek Grant from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, although that could be the result of the Hagelin/Pearson trade.
