The Pittsburgh Penguins have now lost four games in a row following a 2-1 defeat to the Ottawa Senators last night at PPG Paints Arena. Senators goaltender Dylan Ferguson stopped 47 shots in his first career NHL start.
Ottawa took a 1-0 lead in the first period. Rickard Rakell tied the game with just over five minutes remaining in the third period, but the Pens allowed a Senators game-winning goal on a power play with just over two minutes remaining in regulation. The Pens went 0-for-3 on the power play. Tristan Jarry started for the Pens, and stopped 19 of 21 shots.
The Penguins loss, combined with Florida’s 5-2 win over Detroit, has moved the Panthers into the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot by one point with 12 games remaining in the regular season.
The Pens are on the road the next two games. They will practice in Denver today and face-off against the Colorado Avalanche tomorrow night. They visit Dallas Thursday. The Pens return home to host Washington Saturday night.
