As the remnants of Hurricane Ida move into the Western Pennsylvania region, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is reminding motorists about the dangers of flooded roadways.
PennDOT encourages drivers to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” since just two feet of water can float a car.
Anyone who drives around barriers intended to close a road that is flooded will face increased penalties if emergency responders have to be called out for a rescue.
Additional resources about flooding can be found on the Ready PA website.
