The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has received two awards for innovative transportation planning and bridge rehabilitation.
PennDOT was recognized with two America’s Transportation Awards in the Northeast Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials regional competition.
The PennDOT Connects – Connecting Communities initiative won in the Quality of Life/Community Development Small Project category. This program identifies community needs and contextual issues early in project planning through a collaborative process.
The Liberty Bridge Rehabilitation project won in the Operations Excellence Medium Project category. That project consisted of a complete rehabilitation of the 91-year-old Liberty Bridge including steel repairs, concrete repairs, full paint, a new deck, and a new lane control system.
