The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 last night. Tristan Jarry stopped all 23 shots from the Jets for his NHL-leading sixth shutout of the season. The Penguins power play entered the game 31st in the NHL, but went 2-of-3 in the game with goals from Bryan Rust and Jeff Carter. Kris Letang opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the year in the first period. That goal ended up being the game-winner. It was the Penguins second straight victory.
The Pens visit Minnesota Friday night before heading to Winnipeg Saturday.
With Kris Letang’s first-period goal, he reached the 30-point plateau for the 14th time in his career. He is the 21st defenseman in NHL history to put together 14 or more 30-point seasons.
The Vegas Golden Knights ended the Edmonton Oilers winning streak at 16 games following a 3-1 victory last night. The Edmonton winning streak was one short of the Penguins NHL record 17-game winning streak set in the 1992-93 season
