The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-4 last night. The Pens fell behind 3-0 in the first period, only to tie the game with three goals in the second period. After trading goals early in the third period, the Red Wings scored three goals late in third period, including an empty-net goal.
The Penguins missed an opportunity to move five points ahead of Florida in the Wild Card playoff chase. Florida will visit Toronto tonight.
The Pens will host Nashville Thursday to begin a three-game homestand.
