As relief efforts continue for those impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, state officials are urging people to be careful when donating.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency says there are scammers who try to take advantage of these situations.
They encourage you to research charities before donating, never commit over the telephone unless you’re aware of the organization, and to never give your credit card information.
They also say when you’re donating clothing or other items, make sure to donate what has been requested so local recovery workers aren’t overwhelmed.
