Students at Slippery Rock University and other state-owned schools will not see a tuition increase this year.
The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) voted unanimously to freeze tuition for the fifth consecutive year.
That will keep the number at $7,716.
The freeze came after a proposed state budget included more funds for the 14 state-owned universities. They are expected to receive a six percent increase, which works out to $33 million.
About 85,000 students attend a PASSHE school. Nearly 90 percent of them are from Pennsylvania.
