In light of recent attacks at places of worship across the country and the world, Pennsylvania State Police are reminding residents they routinely visit churches and other houses of worship as often as they can.
The agency says it’s similar to how they conduct school visits on a routine basis.
“In an effort to ensure the highest level of safety for our communities, please know that the Pennsylvania State Police endeavors to conduct visits to churches/houses of worship as often as operationally feasible,” a news release from PA State Police said Monday. “Ensuring the safety of churches/houses of worship is of utmost importance to the members of the Pennsylvania State Police.”
This past weekend, officers in Troop A- which are based in Indiana County- conducted a total of 59 checks of churches and houses of workshop.
The PA State Police say this is just a “snapshot” of what troopers across Pennsylvania are doing every day.
