Pennsylvania’s sports betting industry saw a significant boost in June gambling thanks to online wagering.
Although June is a historically slow betting month, the rollout of legal online sports gambling has resulted in the industry’s growth. According to Play Pennsylvania, sportsbooks generated a record $46.3 million in bets this past month.
Just over 40 percent of the bets were made online, equating to about $19 million.
Since it has become legal to bet on sports in the Keystone State, the commonwealth has benefitted financially. In June, the state made approximately $740,000 in tax revenue.
