Despite a good start from Trevor Williams, the Pirates weren’t able to generate any offense as they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. Williams went five innings allowing two runs. The bullpen provided four innings of shutout relief but the only offense the Pirates got was a solo home run by Adam Frazier in the 7th inning.
Manager Clint Hurdle said after the game that David Freese was unavailable due to a “right forearm contusion.”
The Pirates begin a nine game road trip that starts tonight in Colorado. Joe Musgrove will get the start for the Pirates. First pitch is at 8:40 p.m. Pregame coverage begins on WISR 680 AM at 8:15.
