Weather officials are urging residents to avoid burning today as conditions are ripe for brush fires to start.
The National Weather Service said Butler and surrounding counties are at an elevated risk for wildfire spread this afternoon.
They say the combination of dry and windy conditions along with relatively low humidity create the perfect conditions for fires.
Residents are asked to avoid burning and to be careful using ignition sources like cigarettes, machinery, and matches.
