Notre Dame defeated Georgia 23-10 in the Sugar Bowl and the College Football Playoff quarterfinals last night. The Fighting Irish scored 17 points in less than a minute between the second and third quarters to break open a 3-3 game. The Fighting Irish won their 13th game of the season, setting a program record. The victory also snapped an eight-game losing streak in BCS/New Year’s Six Bowl games. Notre Dame will meet Penn State in the Orange Bowl next Thursday as part of the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Notre Dame has opened as an early 1-1/2 point favorite.
Ohio State is an early six point favorite over Texas in the other semifinal.
Ole Miss defeated Duke 52-20 in the Gator Bowl last night. Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart threw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns in the game, his final collegiate game.
