NHL Playoffs:
–Carolina defeated the New York Islanders 5-3 last night and have taken a 2-0 series lead in their Eastern Conference series. The Hurricanes were down 3-0 in the game before mounting a comeback. Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel scored an empty-net goal in the game.
–Toronto defeated Boston 3-2 last night to even their series with the Bruins at 1-1. The victory also snapped an eight-game losing streak against Boston. The Maple Leafs had not defeated the Bruins since November of 2022.
–Vegas defeated Dallas 4-3 in their Western Conference opener.
–Edmonton defeated Los Angeles 7-4.
