The NFL and the NHL will hold their All-Star events this weekend. The NFL Pro Bowl will be played Sunday in Orlando in a flag football format and caps skills events that began last night.
The NHL All-Star game will be played Saturday at 3pm in Toronto. Their skills competition will be held tonight beginning at 7pm.
The player draft for teams that will participate in Saturday’s 3-on-3 NHL All-Star Game tournament returned this year and was held last night. Sidney Crosby, the lone Penguins representative, will play for Team MacKinnon — a team drafted by Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon. Crosby, an all-star for the 10th time, was one of the notable no-shows for Thursday’s media day. Because he’s not one of the 12 players taking part in the skills competition tonight, he was allowed to be a late arrival in Toronto.
The Pittsburgh Penguins return to play following the All-Star break Tuesday when they host the Winnipeg Jets.
Sunday’s Pro Bowl will be a 7-on-7 flag football game, which will feature four 12-minute quarters played on a 50-yard field. Kick-off is 3pm.
