The long-anticipated rock and roll documentary, Becoming Led Zeppelin, finally appears to be getting a theatrical release. A rough cut version of the film was originally screened at the Venice Film Festival way back in September of 2021, but diehard Zep fans have been waiting anxiously to see the documentary ever since–or get any news at all about the status of the film. Sony Classics has reached a deal with director Bernard MacMahon and Altitude Film Sales, but a specific release date for the documentary hasn’t been revealed. The completed version of Becoming Led Zeppelin has been updated with a new sound mix for the theatrical release, as well as additional footage that was discovered in the archives of all four band members. “We have spent years designing this film to be experienced on the big screen with the best possible sound,” MacMahon said in a press statement.
