A residence in Butler Township will likely be used as a day-care and pre-school facility following a decision by the Butler Township Zoning Hearing Board.
After hearing an appeal made by the owner of the property at 107 Ayleshire Road, the Board voted to grant a special exception that will allow use for that purpose.
The special exception was required because the property in that area is zoned R1 Residential. According to the owner, who has been a teacher for 20 years, the house was used by her mother as a day care and pre-school 40 years ago. A neighbor expressed some concern about traffic and increased noise due to the yards being fenced in as play areas.
The facility would be open from about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays for four to six students ages toddler through 6 years. The pre-school and day care is expected to open as soon as the owner is granted state certification in about three months.
