Nascar is in Florida for the final races of the season. The Monster Energy Series, X-finity Series and Camping World Truck Series will crown champions following their races this weekend. Hear the Cup Series race Sunday on WBUT 1050am and at wbut.com beginning at 1:30pm. Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and defending series champion Martin Truex, Jr. will race for the title.
–Dominant season: The final four lineup chasing the MENCS Championship could very well be the most dominate final 4 we’ve seen in the playoff era. Between the four finalists are 22 wins this season. Average finishes at Homestead are 18.5 (Busch), 6.8 (Harvick), 14.9 (Logano), 11.5 (Truex Jr.)
— Chasing History: If Harvick wins this weekend, and also leads 68 laps, he will become the first driver since Jeff Gordon in 1996 to win 9 races and lead 2,000 laps in a single season. With that 9th win, Harvick would ultimately be crowned the series champion, making him the first driver to accomplish all three of those feats at once since Dale Earnhardt did it in 1990.
–Championship facts: If Martin Truex Jr. repeats as the MENCS champion, he will be the first to do so since Jimmie Johnson did every year from 2006 to 2010. If Kevin Harvick wins, he will be the oldest, at 42 years of age, to win the championship since Dale Jarett in 1999.
