A major road project in Cranberry Township that involved the efforts of many people over many years was capped off Thursday afternoon with a special ceremony.
Dozens local officials, business owners, construction workers, emergency responders, and a few lawmakers gathered Thursday to cut the ribbon for the MSA Thruway.
The planning for this $12 million project began over 20 years ago but received a boost with funding from the Butler County Infrastructure bank nearly two years ago. Construction officially began in May of 2020 to dig a tunnel under Route 228 on land donated by MSA in order to connect the Cranberry Woods and Cranberry Springs developments.
Some additional paving and lighting work need to be completed before the tunnel will open to use by the public.
