Today is the first day of Autumn.
This is one of two days each year that the northern and southern hemispheres experience an approximately equal amount of daylight.
This is also a day when fall foliage begins to change color more quickly due to a decreasing amount of daylight available for photosynthesis. The vividness of changing leaves is dependent on weather conditions. Foliage is expected to peak in our area by about October 19th.
Daylight saving time ends on November 3rd at which time clocks will be set back by one hour.
