Major League Baseball will release its cornavirus-shortened season today. The Pittsburgh Pirates will begin with a three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals July 24th.
The Pirates were among four teams who announced Sunday that they have had two players each test positive for COVID-19. Pirates manager Derek Shelton said reliever Blake Cinderland and outfielder Socrates Brito had positive tests.
Former Cy Young Award winner Felix Hernandez announced over the weekend that he was opting out of the baseball season this year out of health concerns.
