Butler City Council will receive a contribution toward local parks in exchange for hosting at least one youth football game this weekend.
Council approved an agreement with Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau for a regional midget football league organization to use Memorial Park football field along with adjacent parking lots for a game tonight and possibly more Saturday and Sunday.
The games were originally scheduled to take place in Cranberry but the fields were determined to be unusable. The tourism bureau was able to arrange for this field and two high school fields to be available on short notice for use in the tournament.
An admission fee of $5 per person will be charged for these games and the City will receive a $425 donation towards parks expenses. If the group has a good experience, they could decide to use the city field as a site for games in the future and invite a team from Butler to play.
