Lottery officials say only one ticket came away with the winning numbers last night to the big Mega Millions jackpot.
The ticket was sold in South Carolina with the winning numbers 5—28—62—65—70 and the Mega Ball was 5.
Jeffrey Johnson, Pennsylvania Lottery spokesman, says as of Monday afternoon, Mega Millions tickets in PA were selling at a rate of 4,000 per minute.
“We’re seeing a big surge in ticket sales, which has historically been the case when jackpots start to rise,” Johnson said.
Although still an enormously large jackpot, the final total finished just shy of $1.6 billion.
There is an opportunity for another major payout tonight as the Powerball has reached a jackpot of $620 million.
