The statewide school mask mandate has been reinstated for the time being.
The temporary move was allowed yesterday by Pennsylvania Supreme Court ahead of arguments scheduled for December 8th. An original order by the Commonwealth Court had the mask order expiring on December 4th.
This is the latest move in the mask mandate legal battle. Acting Secretary of Health Allison Beam originally put the order in place at the start of the school year—an order that was met with resistance from some parents and school board members.
Governor Tom Wolf plans on removing the mask mandate for schools on January 17th.
