
The Mars School Board has approved an increase in the starting hourly wages for the district’s support staff employees.
The board took this measure at a special meeting Monday afternoon in an effort to attract new employees and keep the ones already there.
Effective this at the beginning of this month, custodians will receive a starting hourly wage of $15.50; secretaries, paraprofessionals, and Level 1 maintenance workers will receive $17 as a starting hourly wage; while Level 2 maintenance workers will receive a starting hourly wage of $19.
The Mars Area School Board approved a new contract with the district’s approximately 80 educational support professionals last month.
