A man wanted on armed robbery charges in Butler was taken into custody after a standoff with police in Armstrong County.
It happened last night in Manor Township when police were called to a home on Ludwig Street to investigate a man named Daniel Malone, which police learned was a fake name.
Police were invited into the home by a woman, who admitted that the suspect was inside. Officers confronted the man on a stairwell, where he was holding a gun and threatening a shootout with police.
Officers evacuated the home, which included a 41-year-old woman, an elderly woman, and a child.
During negotiations with the suspect, they learned he was 54-year-old Darrin Hutchens—who was wanted on felony armed robbery in Butler and a misdemeanor in Butler Township. Police say Hutchens was using the false identity of Daniel Malone since 2021.
Eventually, police were able to peacefully end the situation and took Hutchens into the custody by midnight.
