A local man is facing federal charges in relation to making threats against President Trump and other officials.
According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, 32-year-old Shawn Monper of Butler has been criminally charged with threatening to assault and murder Trump along with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
The federal complaint alleges that earlier this month, the FBI became aware of threats posted to Youtube by a user identified as Mr. Satan. The investigation determined that user’s identity was connected to the residence of Monper. Beginning in February and continuing through the beginning of this month, Monper made several comments about buying guns and conducting a mass shooting including assassination of the President.
Monper was arrested on Wednesday with the assistance of Butler Township Police. He will be in court for a hearing on Monday in Pittsburgh.
