Local lawmakers are offering their reactions to Governor Tom Wolf’s budget proposal.
Republican Senators Scott Hutchinson and Joe Pittman, who both represent portions of Butler County, opposed some of the measures proposed by Wolf.
Pittman said the taxes on the Marcellus Shale industry would be devastating to his district.
He and Hutchinson also took issue with Wolf’s proposed income tax increase on some Pennsylvania residents.
Wolf’s budget calls for an increase in spending next fiscal year—with more funding for public education and higher personal income taxes for those above a certain pay grade.
