Gas prices have inched up locally but remained steady across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, rose by two cents over the past week to $3.35 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole held even during that same time at $3.33. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $3.29 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.37 in Mercer.
The average national gas price dropped by a penny over the past week to $3.18 which two cents more than a month ago and about a dollar more than last year. AAA expects gas prices to remain elevated due to high crude oil prices, although gas demand has decreased.
