This past weekend democratic protesters were out once again fighting against actions taken by President Donald Trump’s administration.
On Saturday, leaders from the local Democratic Committee gathered at Diamond Park with the intent to show push back against the Department Of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE).
Former Butler City Council Member Kathy Kline, who helped organize the protest, says that although many acts by DOGE have not been made official waiting may be a losing game.
“We can’t wait until it happens to speak out. Now is the time to speak out before things happen, because once things happen it’s a done deal,” Kline said.
Although, not much change has changed from Trump policies, Kline intends to celebrate the little victories through protesting.
“They have rolled back certain policy changes, and one of the most recent ones was the elimination of phone lines to Medicare and Social Security offices. Everybody across the nation made phone calls, and they changed their decision 24 hours later,” Kline said.
Kline also did say she hopes to continues to have monthly protests.
