Four more people have died locally at Butler Memorial Hospital over the weekend as a result of serious COVID-19 symptoms.

This brings the number of local deaths due to COVID in October to 21 with nearly two weeks left surpassing the September total of 19. This is the largest number of local deaths as a result of COVID in a single month since January when the vaccine was not widely available.
According to the Butler Health System, as of Monday morning 48 patients were hospitalized at Butler Memorial Hospital with 10 of those in the ICU. This is the same number hospitalized compared to Friday with a decrease of one COVID patient in the ICU.
