The Butler Health System is reporting an increase of local residents requiring hospitalization for COVID-19 symptoms as well as two more deaths.
According to BHS, as of Tuesday morning 15 patients are hospitalized at Butler Memorial Hospital with three of those in the ICU. This is an increase of eight compared to last Thursday.
The hospital reported two deaths to the state on Friday.
BHS stresses the importance of vaccinations since about 85% of hospital admissions are unvaccinated patients and even when a vaccinated person tests positive, the illness is likely to be less severe.
Also, the state Department of Health is reporting more than 2,000 new daily cases of COVID-19 for Pennsylvania Tuesday.
That’s the first time since mid-May that the state has had greater than 2,000 new cases.
However, there were only 11 additional deaths announced by the state—bringing the death toll to 27,914.
Hospitalizations have continued to increase, as they’re up about 200 more since last Friday.
