The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-1 last night in Florida. The Lightning scored four goals in the opening period before Tristan Jarry was pulled from the game after facing seven shots. The Pens managed just 16 shots in the game, with four shots each in the first two periods. Bryan Rust scored the only Penguins goal, his 26th of the season in the third period.
The Penguins played without Evgeni Malkin, who was a pre-game scratch.
The Pens visit Buffalo Thursday.
Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin scored his 889th career goal last night, and is now six away from Wayne Gretzky’s all-time NHL record. The Capitals lost 3-2 in overtime to Winnipeg last night.
