As many families find themselves with more candy than they know what to do with, students at the Mars Area School District are holding a collection this week.
The Mars Area Elementary and Centennial Schools will be collecting leftover Halloween candy Monday through Friday to benefit The Lighthouse Foundation food bank in Middlesex Township.
The Mars Area Middle School Student Government will also collect leftover Halloween candy this week to benefit the Operation Gratitude Halloween Candy Give-Back Program which uses the candy in care packages for overseas troops, veterans, and first responders.
All candy must be in original wrappers and unopened.
Donations can be dropped off at the school’s main office during school hours.
