More than 1,000 fans were in attendance at the UPMC Lemieux Center last night to cheer on the female goalie from Mars High School.
The overwhelming support for the student-athlete comes after she was subjected to vulgar and sexist chants by the Armstrong High School student section last week.
In response to those actions, Armstrong has banned students in 7-12 grades from coming to future hockey games, unless they are with their parents and know someone on the team.
Last night’s crowd was filled with her fellow students, parents, members of the community, and former Olympians who brought signs and cheered on the goalie.
