High School Sports from Tuesday:
WPIAL Girls Volleyball playoffs:
–Knoch defeated Kiski Area 3-0 in the 3A quarterfinals. The Knights will meet Central Valley in the semifinals Thursday.
–Freeport defeated Seton-LaSalle 3-0 in the 2A quarterfinals. The Yellow Jackets will meet Deer Lakes in the semifinals Thursday.
–North Catholic defeated Derry 3-0, also in the 2A quarterfinals. The Trojans will meet Serra Catholic in the semifinals.
The Seneca Valley Boys and Girls Soccer teams will play for their WPIAL championships in a doubleheader Saturday at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh. The Seneca Valley Girls (15-2) will meet Peters Township (16-3) at 3:30pm in the 4A final. The Seneca Valley Boys (16-2-1) will face Norwin (17-2-1) at 5:45pm.
The undefeated Mars Girls (18-0) will face Oakland Catholic (17-1) at Highmark Stadium Friday at 6pm in the 3A championship game.
The Slippery Rock University Women’s Soccer team fell to #10-ranked Bloomsburg 4-1 in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs. The Rock women fell to 12-5-2 overall with the loss, and now await the November 5th NCAA selection show to determine the national playoff field.
