A portion of the construction project at the Knoch High School campus is nearly ready to be turned over for use by students and staff.
The latest update from construction managers at the Wednesday night meeting of the Knoch School Board indicated that the project is two-thirds complete with the new Commons area expected to be finished next month.
Board members also approved several change orders at their meeting totaling about $43,000 to frame metal studs and laminate drywall in an area connecting old portions of the building with new. Additional change orders were approved for framing and drywall in the kitchen receiving area as well as for installing speakers in the kitchen serving line and dishwash room.
Some work originally anticipated for this summer is already taking place with the next phase of the project involving transitioning the old cafeteria to a wellness area as well as remodeling half the science classrooms.
