Republican Congressman Mike Kelly and Democratic challenger Ron DiNicola met Monday for the only scheduled debate before the November election.
The debate was held on the campus of Mercyhurst University in Erie.
According to YourErie.com, the candidates discussed several key issues- including immigration, gun safety, and term limits. In his opening statement, DiNicola accused Kelly of backing a tax plan that he said gives the majority of benefits to the wealthiest one percent of Americans. Kelly said the two men have different views on policy and the direction the U.S. should go.
The two men are running to represent residents in the new 16th Congressional District, which includes half of Butler County.
