Jack White‘s Third Man Records and the Third Man Pressing plant in Detroit were busy during the National Football League Draft held there last week. The NFL teamed with Third Man to give quarterback JJ McCarthy — from the University of Michigan, drafted in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings — a behind-the-scenes tour as well as a custom vinyl pressing of the White Stripes‘ ‘Greatest Hits” album with his portrait on the cover.
Third Man also pressed additional custom pressings for all 32 First Round draft picks, some of which were handed out in person during a Motown-themed red carpet event at the store.
White opened Third Man Records’ Detroit location during November of 2015, and the pressing plant in February of 2017. It added a Third Man Mastering operation in 2019.
The NFL Draft was held April 25-27 in downtown Detroit. Musical performers included rapper Big Sean, the Detroit Youth Choir and pop hitmaker Bazzi.
