The New York Islanders defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in a shoot-out last night in Brooklyn. Dominick Simon opened the scoring for the Pens with the only goal of the first perios. Evgeni Malkins scored his seventh goal of the season to tie the game mid-way through the third period. The Pens scored both of their goals on power plays. Matt Murray stopped 24 of 26 shots in regulation. The Pens and Islanders are now tied for first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Pens are now 6-2-3 overall. They have a league-low two losses.
The Pens will host Toronto Saturday. Face-off is 7pm. WISR pre-game will be 6:30pm.
